Elisa Soana, PhD
M.Sc. degree in Environmental Sciences, Elisa finished her PhD in 2013 working on the ecophysiology of a freshwater macrophyte, Vallisneria spiralis L. and the rhizosphere-microbial communities interactions under nutrient excess (e.g. nitrogen) and organic matter availability. Her research activities focus on the ecosystem services provided by plants in eutrophic environments via a biogeochemical approach. Other research topics include nitrogen metabolism in freshwater ecosystems (in particular the regulation of denitrification), genesis and transformations of nutrient loads in agricultural watersheds via mass balance calculation. At present, she collaborates with the group of Prof. G. Castaldelli (Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, University of Ferrara) and she is involved in ongoing experimentations aimed at applying an innovative technique to measure denitrification (N2-open channel method) in watercourses of the Po River plain. Since the academic year 2013-2014, she obtained an assignment of teaching support of the course “Applied Ecology II” (Prof. G. Castaldelli, Master Degree in Ecology and Evolution, University of Ferrara). |
