Giampaolo Rossetti, Professor
Giampaolo Rossetti received his Master degree in Biology and his PhD degree at the University of Parma. He is the author of more than 120 publications in scientific journals (47 published or accepted for publication in ISI-indexed journals) and conference proceedings, and also of book chapters and book reviews in the area of limnology and freshwater ecology. His major research interest has been devoted to the study of the ecology, distribution, and taxonomy of Rotifera and microcrustaceans, with special regard to Copepoda and Ostracoda, from a broad range of freshwater ecosystems (high altitude lakes, temporary pools, springs, etc.). He teaches master-level courses in Ecology of inland waters and Management and conservation of inland water ecosystems. He has supervised or co-supervised more than 70 bachelor and master thesis projects and 11 PhD students. He is the reference person for the site "Mountain lakes" within the Italian Long Term Ecological Research Network (LTER-Italy) and he was member of the Coordinating Board of LTER Italy from February 2010 to April 2012. He has been sub-coordinator and principal investigator in the EU Marie Curie Research Training Network SexAsex (MRTN-CT-2004-512492). He was one of the convenors of the 17th International Symposium on Ostracoda (Rome, 23-27 July 2013). |
