Melissa Rosati, PhD student
Melissa has started her PhD in January 2013. Her research project is focused on the ecology of spring ecosystems, in particular on their invertebrate assembages. Sixteen springs in the Emilia-Romagna region are being investigated, and additional ten springs in a restricted area (Mount Prinzera) will be sampled seasonally. A review on the distribution of ostracods in cold springs of western Palearctic is currently undertaken. The aims of the project is revealing biogeographical patterns at regional and continental scale as well as identifying environmental constraints and assemblage rules that shape invertebrate communities in springs. |
