Roberta Azzoni, PhD
During my PhD (defended in 1999) I studied the interactions among S, Fe and P biogeochemical cycles in the sediment of eutrophic coastal ecosystems colonized by different plant communities. In particular I analyzed how P speciation and mobility changes in relation to redox conditions induced by organic matter enrichment and primary producers activity. More recently, I expanded these studies to freshwater ecosystems, evaluating factors that control internal and external P loading and transport in lakes and rivers. Other research focus on the analysis of ecosystem services in aquatic environments, scientific support for the restoration of impacted aquatic environments and the management of protected areas and Natura 2000 network. |
